For the Senegal Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia, Caroline Gueye presents Wurus, a site-specific exhibition conceived for the spaces of Palazzo Navagero.
The project is organised as a progression through the pavilion. From the entrance, a distant sculptural form frames the visitor’s orientation, while other works appear gradually while moving through the rooms. Some elements are encountered directly, others through openings, reflections or shifts in perspective.

Rather than a single viewpoint, the exhibition invites visitors to adjust their position in space and to become aware of how seeing changes with distance and movement.

Wall-based sculptural works in brass and bronze polymer are integrated into the architecture, and a luminous installation is perceived from an adjoining space. The exhibition approaches gold not as an object to display but as a question of perception, value and attention.
Caroline Gueye: "My projects begin with the architecture of the site. Rather than inserting artworks into a space, I reconfigure how the space is experienced, and the works emerge from this spatial arrangement."
